The little man’s fascination with my computer is getting annoying. Whenever I get up from my computer chair he runs to it and sits in it and will raise hell if I tell him to get down. He will not let go of the mouse at first but when he knows that I mean business, he slams it on the table. He does sound like a destructive kid, lol. Actually, it is only when it comes to the computer. He probably thinks that since mama and dadi are always on the computer then he has to, too. There are always arguments here which gets on the nerves sometimes. I still get online several times during the day for a few minutes at a time when he is busy with other things. If I think he is bored then it is time to turn everything off. I am seriously considering buying his own computer but we don’t have enough resources right now. There is this nice Rackmount monitor which should be good for him but we don’t have the money to buy it. He will probably be tickled if he gets to play in his own computer. He might learn how to surf sites since he is really good with the mouse right now. He even knows how to turn my laptop on and off, and navigate from one page to the other without accidentally closing any. I guess it is time for mama to start saving so she can buy her little boy his own real computer. Or is it too early?

need some fixin’
January 27th, 2009
The stepdaughter is now into fixing the inside of the house they bought. She had her husband paint one of the rooms pink for their baby girl last time we went to visit. She also bought a lot of curtains because she wants to use them instead of the blinds. I like the idea too because curtains have a personal touch to it than blinds. I don’t know if she is using Sferra because she really has nice looking curtains right now. I may have to ask her when we go visit them again. Their house has four bedrooms so she will have her hands full for the next few weeks arranging things and making the house look presentable. It is a beautiful house and I like it except for the stairs which is kinda creepy to me. There are too many steps and there is an area (I don’t know what it is called) in the upstairs where you can look down to the entryway which I think is not safe for kids. Other than that, the house is immaculate. The husband loves it and he jokes he is jealous and he wants to have one too, lol. I am happy mostly because now that she has a house away from the beach we can have a place to evacuate when hurricane season comes. I always worry about not having a place to go to when it happens and it is inevitable in the South. I can now stop worrying
we need a new DVD player
January 26th, 2009
After spending some much time (and money) on books I am now into watching DVD’s at home. I started out with Kung Fu Panda and then yesterday I watched a Christmas movie which prompted the husband to touch my forehead wondering if I was sick, lol. I then proceeded to watch Constantine because I have not watched the movie but then our DVD player started acting up. The movie stops and the player makes a funny sound. I turned it on and off several times last night but it did the same thing over and over again so I decided to wait until this morning and hope for the best. Well, it still is acting up. I hate it! Just when the little man was ready to watch it with me (he had his blankies on the ready in the couch) the DVD player did not cooperate. I think we might have to buy a new player. This is what happens when you buy a cheap DVD player and a toddler keeps on messing with it. I think the latter was the reason why we bought a cheap player in the first place. I thought about borrowing the teenager’s DVD player but if we (the little man and I) tear it up then we will have a problem. I don’t know when we will get a new player or if I can do anything to make this one work (it is only a few months old). I will try to fix it and see what happens.
family issues
January 22nd, 2009
The last few days had been chaotic for lack of a better word. The husband is trying so hard to settle down a family issue. I am angry because of the unfairness of it all but there are things in life we don’t really have control over. And the best thing to do is face the problem instead of running away from it which is what I really want to do. It does feel better if I think about it as a nightmare, lol. Sad to say it is not a dream, it is reality. I told the husband I am not comfortable with so much drama and he told his sister about it who called me and laughed at me for being silly. Easy for her to say because she is used to diffusing trouble. She is good at it. Whereas, I, am not used to anything like this. I know I am vague but I have to because there are people involved here and I don’t want to betray their confidence too much. Thankfully I have my own refuge, the little man and the wonders of the internet and television. If not then I probably would have been gorging on food right now which is not really good because then I will have to be worrying about weight gain and diet pills and all that. Well, I hope, and pray that everything will be okay. The husband said this is something we have to deal with and deal with it we will. I will try my best to be good and help out as much as I can.
biometrics done
January 21st, 2009
We just got home from the USCIS office here in our place. I had my biometrics (finger printing and picture taking) done in connection with my application to remove conditions on my permanent residency. That was a mouthful, lol. It was quick. We did not even stay ten minutes and we were out. The officer who took my finger prints had a little problem with my right fingers since I could not help not doing anything. He told me I don’t have to do anything. It was pretty hard you know when it was your fingers he was talking about. He was the same person who did my fingerprinting for my AOS application as well and he made the same exact remark. I am just a busybody
Well, since biometrics is done, all I have to do is wait either for my card or an interview. I sure hope there will be no more interviews though. Like the husband said, we are glad that was over and done with. We can now sit back and wait for any updates from USCIS.
they bought a house
January 19th, 2009
So the stepdaughter and her family have now moved in to their new house. We spent the weekend helping them clean and then move all their stuff. We did not get to check on gyms as previously planned but at least now they are settled and if we are lucky we might be able to do it next weekend. Anyway, last Friday we had to go to their new house because she wanted the door knobs replaced. No, they did not use industrial knobs, just the regular knobs you can get from the store cheap but she wanted the old ones for the front and back doors to be replaced. You see the house was foreclosed on its previous owner so she had to make sure all the locks are changed. The husband did that on Friday, helped her clean the carpet and the walls on Saturday because her husband had to work, and helped them move yesterday. Now all she has to do is unpack and put things in their right places. We might visit them one day this week to see how she’s doing. They had a good deal with the house they purchased. It is two storey with four bedrooms and two and a half bathroom, two car garage, and plenty of closet space. We hope she will stay in that house for years to come. She has this tendency to get bored when she has stayed in one place for over a year and decides to move again. Perhaps the house will make her stay until the kids grow up. We are keeping our fingers crossed
we got lost
January 17th, 2009
We were up until midnight last night. The stepdaughter signed the papers on her new house yesterday and she asked her father to change the locks on the doors. He would not go without me and the little man so we went with him. I was reading the map while he was driving. We have only been to that place several times and it was always during the day. It is different driving at night because of the limited visibility. So I read the map but I got it all wrong and told the husband to turn left instead of right and we got lost, lol. When we got to the end of the street (a long one at that) he began to suspect we were lost (duh!). Of course it was my fault and I said sorry but the damage had been done. The little man puked because we were driving in circles and making rough turns. I felt miserable but what can I do, I already did a lot. Thankfully we were not very far away from the street we were supposed to get on to get to the stepdaughter’s house. She laughed at us when we got there. This is not new to hear when I am reading the map. She even offered to buy us a GPS but the husband will not hear of it. He said there is nothing better than the map. He is right but only if the person reading the map knows what he is doing.
weekend plans
January 16th, 2009
It is the weekend once again. My favorite days of the week, lol. These two precious days are my days off you know? Or I call it that even if I don’t really have days off from the little man. The reason why I love weekends is because the little man and I have all of Daddy’s attention and we get to go out and eat or walk. These are my simple pleasures in life. Last weekend we had Mexican food and we went to a Golden Corral for the first time because I bugged the husband we should go. I am just curious why their parking area is always full and wondered if the food was good. He indulged me and we went in and now I know, lol. We walk on most weekends if it is not too cold to make up for eating too much. Now you know why even if we want to lose weight we don’t. It is because we love food. We usually eat before and after our walk. But I told the husband I need to lose weight even if I have to take Fentraphen to do it. So this weekend he promised we will check a few gyms and see which one will be good for us. I already have my pre-pregnancy pictures out to motivate me into getting back in shape. I hope we will find the perfect gym tomorrow. I really want to start working out before I gain more weight. I will be very happy if I tone my stomach a bit so I can wear decent clothes again especially now that Spring is almost here. Wish me luck.
