We let the little man play games from an educational website for at most an hour a day. That is if he does not get distracted and leave the laptop while he stays in his room and plays with his toys. He is learning new things with that game. We love it because we think it is good for him as long as he does not spend too much time in front of the computer. The problem is he thinks he now owns my laptop. He gets jealous when I use it. Ever heard of the law of ownership when a toddler is involved? He might not be playing with it but he is keeping an eye on who uses it. Well, I think I can give him the old laptop as long as I will get me a new one. I would prefer a Sony Vaio with more gig please. The husband said I should either just share with his son or use my other computer. He does not understand I want a new one
Or maybe he pretends he does not so he will not be obligated to buy it for me, lol. I will save up for a better laptop although with the long list of things for me to buy I don’t know when it will happen. Perhaps my fairy godmother is reading this and come Christmas I will have a brand new laptop waiting under the tree

salted fish (tinabal)
August 30th, 2009

I grew up eating fish, dried and fresh, when I was living with my parents. It is what we normally ate because it is cheaper and you can cook it any way you like and still come up with a good tasting dish. The fish in the dish above is salted but not dried. In fact, it was packed in salt on a plastic container for days to age. I searched online on how I can make this particular salted fish and thankfully found it in one try. The fish had been preserved for about two weeks prior and are really firm and ready to be cooked. I washed the salted fish first then sauteed garlic, onion, and tomatoes then added the fish and a little water and let it simmer for a few minutes and pictured above is the result. It was so good! I have craved for years for this dish and decided to make my own when a family friend started giving us fish whenever he goes fishing. I don’t want the fish to go to waste or stay in the freezer for months so I made good use of it. Thank goodness it does not stink as bad as dried fish
he smokes
August 26th, 2009
The stepson smokes. His father has told him several times to quit but he will not listen. He claims he is doing it gradually but I saw him the other day holding two packs. When he lived with us he used to have all kinds of cigarette and sometimes I would find cigar in his room. I don’t know if he got it from a local cigar store or he ordered it online. How he got it we did not have a clue. He is resourceful that I can tell when it comes to his own needs. He was experimenting then. We don’t know if he is still now although we hope he will not blow his money away.
just looking
August 23rd, 2009
Even if we have not decided where to move yet, the husband has been looking for houses and apartments for rent online. He is looking at different places and I just let him because he changes his mind almost every five minutes on where he wants us to move. I can’t decide either so for right now we are taking our sweet time. Every time he sees a house with nice interior though he always show it to me. He is fascinated with a house with hardwood floors, stone sink, high ceiling, and plenty of closet space. I, on the other hand, wants a house with two or more bathrooms. We are hoping we will find one with all the things we want in it when the time comes. Hopefully it will be cheap too. What are the odds? Lol.
anticipation

Today makes one week since my mother mailed the package at their local post office in Leyte. It contained goods I requested they send for me. It took them a while to mail the package but it was not their fault but mine. You see, the husband and I could not make up our minds whether to move or not and we don’t even know where. So for right now we decided to stay at the duplex and wait until inspiration hit us. My mother thought this was coming so she went ahead and gathered most of the items on the list I gave her and mailed it last week. I am now counting the days and hoping the package will get here intact with all the items still in it. It is not that I have doubts about the post office here but the box could get damaged on the trip here and that is what I am dreading. It is a long trip after all. I will let you all know when the box gets here what it contains. I am excited!
cars
August 17th, 2009
Having older cars has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that it is paid for which means no more monthly payments except for insurance. The disadvantage is that along the way some parts might have to be replaced. It is old after all. No matter how good it still runs sometimes a car’s taillight gets busted and needs to be replaced. Little things that are important for safety. The husband has bought plenty of car accessories since he worked on our cars for them to be running as good as they are now. He ordered parts for a Ford, a Sebring, a Jeep. Sometimes a part may be cheap, other times it is pricey but everything is important so he did not have a choice but buy what he needs. He basically replaced most parts that now the cars are doing good even if, like I said, they are old. I hope the cars will continue to be working fine since the husband can’t work on them anymore and even if he has a friend who can fix our cars should the need arise, we have to pay him money on top of buying parts.
reading a book
August 16th, 2009
We went to the Flea market yesterday to buy some stuff and to trade my books. I am now reading one which is about a girl masquerading as a bounty hunter to prove to her father she can do things a man can do and let her run her grandfather’s ranch. It is pretty interesting story but I am afraid I have to read it on and off because of my little boy’s demands. He whines at every little thing just to get my attention when he gets bored with a game he is playing in the computer. He also tries to get the book from me which is annoying so I told him he has to stay away from the computer and let me use it. He seems to be fine with it now. He is picking up stuff from the floor then handing it to me telling me what it is. Anyway, I have to finish the book today so I will know whatever will happen to the girl. Will she ever get her wish once she returns to her parent’s house? She seems to know everything about raising cattles and cattle supplies and rides a horse well and she did turn out be good at what she is currently doing so hopefully she will get her wish. Unless she gets married which is what her father wants and let her husband run the ranch. It is a nice story with interesting twists being the setting was the 1800′s in Texas. I hope the little man will let me finish what I am doing after I spend some time with him. He gets demanding nowadays and wants me to do his bidding whenever he wants to. This little boy needs to know who is boss, lol. Well, he knows he is
filtration system
August 14th, 2009
About a week ago we purchased water filtration system. That is a grand name for actually just a pitcher filter
We decided to buy one because buying water every other weekend is getting expensive not to mention tiring. If you have to carry gallons of water every time you go to the store like I do you will get tired too. The husband said it had to stop not just for financial reason but he is feeling guilty I had to pack all that weight. He can’t help it, he can’t lift anything heavy. The first time he told me about buying water filter I thought it might be something you hook on the faucet so I looked online for all kinds of water filters including refrigerator water filters even if I know we will not buy the latter. I just wanted to cover all the bases just in case the husband will ask me what I wanted. Honestly, I did not know until I searched online for water filters and filtration system. Thankfully the husband already had something in mind so I did not have to give in my two cents worth, lol. At least if the item he chose did not work I will not be blamed for it. Turn out there is no worries over that aspect. We have been using the water filter of his choice and so far we don’t have any complains about it yet. I take that as a good sign.
