The first few months of our married life, the husband and I did not agree on my choice of clothes. I used to wear tight fitting tops which were a bit too short for his taste. A little lift of an arm here and it showed some skin in the tummy area. I was used to it because to me it did not really look scandalous besides I always had jackets on since I came here in the middle of winter. Apparently he did not like that. It was because I was new in his town and people look at us with interest. I may be older but a lot of people mistake me for somebody younger and I guess he wanted to tell people how old I was by making me wear “age-appropriate” clothes that I detested. The argument went on for a while but I was not giving in. I told him people can think and say what they want but I am not doing something just to please them. Of course it did not end the discussion but I told the husband be happy I am not wearing hip hop clothes because then that would have been inappropriate for my age, lol. He eventually got used to the idea because he had seen me in “adult” clothes we bought and I looked like a kid trying to look older and that was ridiculous if not funny. Fast forward four years later and he thinks of those days fondly. The days I wore tight fitting clothes and looked good in them. I can hardly do that now since I gained over ten pounds. He does not mess with my choice of clothes anymore, in fact he praises me every time I dress up. I guess he is trying to make up for his mistake
